Greetings!
On behalf of the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD), and the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen), we take great joy and pride in welcoming you to our Regional Parks and Open Spaces in the San Francisco Bay Area. The EBRPD park system comprises 125,000 acres, 73 parks and 1,250 miles of trails, and is the largest special park district in the nation. Midpen has preserved over 63,000 acres of public land and manages 26 open space preserves.
The year 2019 is EBRPD’s milestone 85th Anniversary! We hope many of you will come and celebrate with us. We have an exciting itinerary planned with visitation to 11 parks and preserves. You’ll explore Regional Parklands with diverse landscapes and facilities – from underground mines, restored shorelines, a cold-war 2,000-acre-weapon station, a working turn-of-the-century farm to a gigantic earth-filled quarry. Your day with Midpen in the South Bay will take you from one of the region’s highest peaks to a cool redwood forest.
Our hope is that these visits will stimulate lively discussions on the challenges and opportunities that we – special park district elected officials, administrators, managers, and front-line staff – frequently deal with, such as preservation, climate adaptation, recreation, resiliency, revitalization, funding, partnership collaboration, and legislative policies.
And of course, one of the nicest things about visiting the Bay Area is to enjoy the diverse array of gourmet and creative dining, local wine tasting, historic sites, entertainment, and stunning views of coastlines. We look forward to hosting you in the spring of 2019.
Best Regards,
